Any Idol fans would appreciate the quality performers on Britian’s got Talent. Check out for instance, Susan Boyle and Shaheen Jafargholi from 2009. Paul Potts is among the better known talent from 2008. Youtube has videos.

Kristi, I felt the same way about the Bachelor show! I've stopped watching it for quite awhile now, and I really don't think that's an 'effective' way to find a soulmate, since many ARE indeed, hiding their true personalities.

Yes, have to agree on the song as a great way to express oneself. My husband & I used to write short poetry to each other back in the 'dating' process; or at times, sing too. Artistry could be applied in so many ways, it's all up to the presenter how he/she would like to deliver the message.

What a great way to look at it. This reminds me of one time I was watching the Bachelor. I hated what the show was based on... trying to find a soulmate on live TV when you know people probably aren't showing their "true" selves.

But the episode I watched had this girl who was a songwriter. She couldn't express in conversation how she felt about him, but she wrote this lovely song about her feelings. It made me think about how their are artistic types out there that can only express themselves through their chosen art, whether song, poems, etc.

Wonderful post Ching Ya. Once again, very thoughtful and thought-provoking. I haven’t watched this series but I may tune in to see the last few weeks.
