Blogger will stop on the 1st of May now for anyone using it to feed a website so one will have to change whether you liike it or not.

I think wordpress is much more versatile than blogger was anyway and, for the most part, it is usually a smooth change over. Sometimes the URLs get messed up but if you have a dedicated server there are ways around that.

blogger is still cool as it gets your post indexed fast by google, but if you’re planning on working long term, better switch to wordpress as early as you could. joomla isn’t the best thing around ‘though…

Thank you for anticipating for the ebook. Recently I was a little distracted by other tasks that ebook had to take a back seat. However, I do find there’s a need to complete the ebook asap. i am also thinking to switch to wordpress as i am having a hard time on some plugins and modules with Joomla but my site is not just about blogging, there are furture plans for some other stuff… but in case, i’d be looking forward to the e-book and maybe i could ask you for some inquiries regarding some installation in wp…

Well shared. I agree that in SEO wise, self-hosted sites will gain more advantages through plugins etc. Just need a little courage to take up the challenge and definitely, proper info about the how-to’s.. can’t say how much I’m glad the process is done.

I can safely say that making the move from Blogspot to my own domain (with Wordpress) was really exciting – I also tested out several templates, played around with plug-ins, and I got a lot of feedback and comments then too. It felt like “yeah, this blog is going to be so much better and traffic is going to zoom through the roof.” That latter hasn’t quite happened yet.

I wish I had been better about optimizing permalinks back then, and had read up on solid SEO structure for the blog.

Wordpress is so much superior to blogger it is even not worth comparing. I suspect google is giving some bonus to blogger blogs at the beginning and later in SEO game, but it has to many disadvantages.

For example, you can not do SEO for images properly, with all that strange characters and folders that blogger is using in the URL. The whole hierarchy of blogger blog is not prepared for SEO, while Wordpress has a wonderful starting position and with a few plugins it is super optimized.

Hosting your own domain and changing templates is harder to do and requires gathering new info on the net.
