Tip Jar

It’s a hard time for everyone, the recession, the job-layoffs.. we need some killer ideas to survive. And what did Google come up with? A gigantic Tip Jar.

They’re giving out money???
Nooooo… they’re collecting money saving TIPS for everyone to share/vote. Sort of like a mini forum, where you get to post threads, but the difference is, you only get to say ‘Agree’, ‘Disagree’, or Flag it as inappropriate.

Just what kind of ideas are there?
Comes in various topics: health, at home, at work, travel, shopping etc. For instance,

“Pay your bills online to save on postage”
“STOP smoking today!”
“Press Cltl+K to go directly to search box on the top right in Firefox”
… are some of the popular ones. (“Didn’t I know these already??” ok, move along)

Want to be a contributor? Easy:

1. Log in using your Google Account.
2. Pick the category you wish to view/ submit ideas.
3. Decide your displayed Nickname & Location (optional).

tip jar2

4. Ready to submit your tip.

example tip jar

5. There, it’s on the list.

Can’t find it? Probably at the far end of the list. Try ‘search’, and look for the last page, it should be there. Why? Ever heard of first come, first served? And you probably need to wait awhile for people to notice & vote enough for your idea to be on the front pages.

When will I get noticed? Your guess is just as good as mine. So you better putting down some brilliant ideas for trendy issues. Or try to be FAST on the ideas. Which reminds me on how the world works, even the blogosphere. =P

So, Idea-LESS? Or Overwhelmed with tons of tricks, you could all take a dive in the big Jar. Currently there are over 45,000 votes cast on 3200 tips by nearly 4200 people. As how the big G likes to put it ‘Take a Tip, Share A Tip’.

Wanna Try? Did it benefit you in anyways?

Top 5 BRAINIAC Puzzle-Play!

Posted by Ching Ya | Posted in Fun n Games | Posted on 08-03-2009

Happy International Women’s Day!

So it is said that on 8th March every year, we’re celebrating the contribution of women all over the world. If you’re a lady, bravo for being YOU. Today is YOUR day! Lay your burdens down for awhile and try to have some fun.

In case you’re not doing anything special, and waiting for any feed to drop in your inbox, today’s your lucky day! How about a little challenge @ brain-battles? ^^

1. Escape Game

I can never imagine my site without an escape game intro. Don’t we just love to escape from our office(s)? Here’s a game from Gamedesign. It looks simple enough, but as you go along you’ll need some puzzle-solving skills. How about a little hints, which I’m sure you’re gonna thank me later:

- 1 of the item in the room could be used twice to reveal a pattern.
- Sometimes when you play with a toy, it takes >5 seconds to respond with a clue.

Oh my gosh, am I being too obvious? I hope not. As always, drop me a message below if you stuck at somewhere. Beat my score to get out less than 31 minutes, I dare you!

… … … … yeah, like that’s gonna happen.

2. Bloxorz

I totally loved this. Toggle the music/sound off if you wish, but I, myself find it’s one of the attractions apart from the cool 3D graphics. The purpose of the game is easy:

Get a rectangular cube in the square hole without falling off! Use your arrow keys to control the brick. Read through the game instructions before the game starts, and watch out for the symbols.

Reminder: Since the game could not be saved, you need to jot down the passcode for each stage (top right corner) so you could go back to where you left off without starting all over. Go to Main Menu > Load Stage to enter your level code.

3. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Talking about the hottest trend, especially after a movie just swept 8 oscars in favoured to this game show. No further explanation needed I suppose. See how smart you are to win $1mil. Over 1000 questions to play with, so, good luck!

4. Super Stacker 2

This is a funny one. It’s hard to get frustrated when you look at those silly faces that smile back, or worried they’re gonna fall after you made a dangerous (silly) move. Stack them, and make your way till the end of the levels. Great game for kids as well.

What? Too Easy??? In that case, I have an Ultimate Brainiac puzzle for you..

5. Kids Room

Try to escape from the Kid’s Room if you can. I’m out of luck with this piece. Anybody could share with me how to solve the panel puzzle on the table?? It must have something to do with the paintings on the wall.. ideas?

Which one is your favourite?

I just can’t get enough of these escape games!

If you remembered the previous Get Me Outta Here & Christmas Escape 2, those were some tough ones to accomplish. But, NOT this one!

The mission?
Not getting out of the room! instead, a romantic & lovely one:

~Help a little mouse to prepare a heart-shaped Valentine Choco for his girlfriend~So enjoy yourself with this little gift from me to you!

So I was Tagged…

… by Sadie’s Skinny, who owns a Personal Weight Loss Blog. While I was there I had a fun time reading some of the jokes she shared, go right over to claim your laughs. So now my task is to share 7 random / weird things about me, later tag 7 people the next while linking to their blogs. So you think you know somebody huh?

1. I never been to kindergarten, which is why I freaked out during my first day at school (1st Grade) Big Time!! One of the most ‘popular’ kids in my class that day (not in an honorable way). Later that year, I came 1st in the story-telling competition that cleared my name.

2. Almost 80% of my immediate family members play basketball. We’ve been into tournaments, and my dad used to be a basketball coach, but not on my team.

3. I’m quite a sensitive person.

4. 80′s pop songs = my kid’s songs; and I watched Army Of Darkness when I was 3-4, ended up hiding behind the family couch.

5. I’ve been on a netcage in the middle of the sea; handling more than 30 Tiger Groupers (ranging from 3-5kg) with my bare hands (with help, of course) in a project. Wait, I think I still have their sci name in my head~ Epinephelus fuscoguttatus… GOSH!! Did I spell that right??

6. I love playing guitar. Hoping to learn piano or drums someday too. My dream is to be in a band.

7. I used to beat most of the people in a Typing version of House Of The Dead (PC game) – Speed.

So that’s just about it. If you’re interested to join in the tag, why not? =) Let your readers know more about you. Enjoy!

Songsmith: The Sing-A-Long!

Posted by Ching Ya | Posted in Fun n Games | Posted on 18-01-2009

2

It’s a whole new season for American Idol ! Somebody is going to have his/her singing career all marked up again. Personally, I’m pleased with the emerge of artists such as David Cook & Daughtry. Hoping more artists will have their dreams realized as the show goes on.

So, how serious you are about singing?

A leisure thing? Or you never touch the microphone on the karaoke stand, ever? Feeling shy? Or it’s just not your thing?

I like to sing, but I don’t sing well. So NO WAY for me to sing in front of the public, except behind closed doors. Nope, no hubby allowed either.

So, the other day when someone mentioned to me about ‘Songsmith‘, I decided to give it a go. It looks easy enough, no sophisticated gadgets needed, just your voice, PC/laptop, and your PC microphone.

So, how does Songsmith work?

It will generate music that matches your voice as you sing along. Get your self-wrote lyrics prepared, simply pick a musical style, click the ‘record’ button and sing to your PC microphone (even mic on webcam should do the trick). Later, it will automatically have the background music created for you. You can customize your song afterwards, by changing chords, type of instruments used or music arrangements. Make it original, it’s YOUR very own recording studio!

Is it for the Pro Only??

Nope. It’s for everyone, whether or not you’re a musician, you can easily play along with it, as all the edits are in sliding, choosing format. You’ll know what I mean when you go through the tutorial videos.

Just me? What If I want to share it with the WORLD?

Definitely. Your recordings could be saved in WMV, WAV, MIDI format. Posting them to any social network websites will be a piece of cake. Not getting the file format you want? File converter programs come in variety over the net. No worries.

Plus, it could be exported directly to your MovieMaker. Create your self-titled MTV? No problemo!

Is it Free??

Sadly, it’s not. However, it does give you a 6 hours trial period, counting from the point you start using Songsmith, and the timer will stop as you minimize or stop using it. Therefore, don’t’ leave it open un-attended; try to create as many pieces you can while it’s still valid.

Of course, it is said that features such as additional instruments are obtainable if you purchase the software. Depends on how serious you’re gonna get with Songsmith.

My tip is, try to explore the tutorial videos at Help & How-to first before using it. Time is ticking for the trial version, you know. Don’t waste it. Have fun! Perhaps share with us your materpiece when you’re done?^^

Christmas Escape 2 !!

Posted by Ching Ya | Posted in Fun n Games, It's All About Christmas | Posted on 22-12-2008

OMG OMG OMG!!!

Christmas Escape 2 !!! Sorry for my ecstatic behavior, but I’ve been longing to play this! I tried it out last Friday, it was so cool and captivating! Just like Get Me Outta Here , it involves alot of mind-twitching and unexpected outcome per clue collected. I’ve been restraining myself from posting this just yet, until today! See? Monday isn’t always that dull and plain, is it? ^^

The rules are practically the same in Christmas Escape 2. The items you found will be stacked in the right sidebar. Use them on other stuffs in the room that eventually lead you out of the lab! The Ornaments, however, don’t help much except providing some chances of opening other clues available. The hardest part is getting them piece by piece. Don’t give up though, it’s all there in the room.

I specifically want to thank my dearest 3 colleagues who stood by me when I was trying it out out, who shouted with clues, and possible ways to solve the riddle! They are adorable! So, in the end, 4 human brains beat the game, of course, and here’s the proof!

So, if you stuck at somewhere, or desperately needed the walk throughs, just shout it out at the comments below. Don’t risk yourself to look for answers in other unsecured sites. Eventhough I might be on trip, but I’ll try to help out as much as I can. =) Enjoy!!! Let us know if you’ve completed it!

Turbo Christmas !!

Posted by Ching Ya | Posted in Fun n Games, It's All About Christmas | Posted on 14-12-2008

6

Manic Monday!!

Oh no, we are not giving in to those dull and lifeless working hours, aren’t we? How about a little Turbo to your engine?

Yes, Turbo Christmas it is! (It may take a little while to load, but the wait is worth it)

Your Mission:

Help Santa Claus or the Biblical Magi Three Kings (select the character you like by pressing ‘z’) to drop the presents into the chimneys and get some points for that. See how far (levels) you could go? I got myself a Level 6 with 48110, if I remember correctly. Beat that score!

Controls:

1. Left, Right, Up, Down arrow keys – To control your movements. (remember the combination of up+left / down+right etc are applicable)

2. ‘z’ key – To drop the presents (hitting it repeatedly to drop as many presents in the chimney as possible).

3. ‘p’ key – only when nature calls, and you gotta pee.

Tips to score and survive:

I’m gonna give you my gaming secret to save you some time, ha! Lucky you!

1. Don’t Smash Into the house or the trees – Unless you want to ‘Game Over’ quickly.

2. Watch out for The Stars :

DO’s – The stars that are flying towards you on the sky are up for grabs, by doing so you’ll increase your turbo and go further.

DON’Ts – Do Not take the stars on the Christmas tree, it’ll kill your Turbo.

3. Drop as many presents in one chimney as possible.
- Not only you’ll get points; when a star is seen shooting out from the chimney, grab it, it’s the Turbo-charger, just like those flying stars you love!
(There can only be 1 star / chimney)

4. Maybe you can tell me??

Why I Choose This Game for you?

It could be played repeatedly without refreshing your page. Once you’re Game Over, can either key in your name or skip that by ‘Enter’, then wait for it to load from its main page. Click ‘Play’ if you wish to try again. Mute the music if you want to at the main page.

Convenient?

Enjoy your Turbo Christmas! =)

Get Me Outta Here!!

PICTURE THIS:
Christmas day. You’re ALL ALONE. Worst! You’re all locked up in a cold room. The only way to get out, is to locate the KEY, hidden somewhere ! But You’ve searched everywhere, where is it?????

Instead of the key, you found tons of craps, how on earth these things are gonna help me open the door??

HOW ON EARTH…??
That’s when your Sherlock Homes instinct kicks in! By all means, ransack the entire room if you want to (I doubt you’re gonna make a mess anyway) Just click around the room in search for clues, and use the hidden objects found on other items in the room. Craps?? No no, you’ll find these ‘craps’ come in handy very soon. Don’t trust me? Just play the game. Think creative, unexpected things will happen once you found something.

I SAW PRESENTS! FOR ME??
Sure, you can keep all the presents, in fact. But, I can tell you, the key is not in there. Although they don’t contribute much in helping you to get out, but once you’ve collected them, another hidden clue might be revealed.

You’ve played?? How was it??
Totally crazy about it! What I’m proud of, is I didn’t cheat to get out! Honest! It’s not that hard actually, be patient. If you stuck at anywhere, you know you can always leave me a comment, and I’ll come flying to your rescue. (Gosh.. I’m so kind)

I WANT MORE!!

If you’re hunger for more, good news is its site is going to launch the all new Christmas Escape 2, before 24th Dec. You can be sure I’ll be all up for that one!!

What?? Too easy for ya?? Well, how about trying to get out from Switch, Sphere, RGB, Vision rooms?? These are harder levels, for sure will get you all hooked up. Sometimes you even wish to tear down the whole room just to find the clues! It’s captivating, and I’m done with Switch now. But now stuck at Sphere…arggghh.. it’s soooooo hard!!!

Click here if you wish to play, I strongly suggest you try though:

So?? How was it?? Did you get out eventually??

GAMES: Let's Crunch Some Ornaments!!

Posted by Ching Ya | Posted in Fun n Games, It's All About Christmas | Posted on 01-12-2008

2

As you can see, I moved the (old) game to another site (just click the link above), so you can have a ‘peace of mind’ while reading the new posts. Bear in mind that new games will still be appearing in this main blog.

Rules of the Game:

All you need to do, is simply click on 2 or more ornaments to crunch them. When you destroy multiple ornaments you will be rewarded with big points! Complete the level by destroying a set amount of ornaments. So, put on your thinking cap, or.. just click at your own will! See how far you’ll go!

The reason I chose this game is because it equips with ‘music control’ that allows you to mute it. I figure that will be convenient for you guys at work (not that I’m encouraging you to), or while your kids are napping, or simply just want to have a quiet game. I can’t promise you the games that I’ll be uploading next time will have similar controls, but I’ll try my best to find it. For precautions, maybe you need to turn off your speaker/volume first before your next visit. Just in case you don’t want to get jumpy with sudden music/noise. =)

Anyhow, just enjoy yourself! Crunch them all !

Anybody finished all the levels??

Today was just usual, boss’ out of town, and I had to stay back, worked over time and make sure the paper works were in order. Although it was Saturday, but it seemed like any other weekdays.. work work work…

Bored with no music, I decided to tune in my blog and listened to some songs I enjoyed. Unexpectedly, a blogger friend of mine, Red, from SassyNSappy gave me a Lemonade Award! I’ve always liked Lemonade, but never imagined getting an award by the name of it! That’s just too cute! Can’t help but wondering what is it? After I visited her lovely blog, I began to understand what’s the award about!

Lemonade Award, given by bloggers, to other 10 blogs they like & enjoy visiting. A very thoughtful idea! Especially a chance for bloggers to show their appreciation to other bloggers’ effort! To me, besides the joy of being acknowledged, also, I get to show my gratitude to the blogs I deem worthy.

First of all, none other than my deepest gratitude to you Red, I enjoyed your blog too you know. I’m gonna give this award to you anyway! =)

So, hereby, I present you the other 9 winners, from wchingya’s very own pick! *Drum rolling*

Congrats to the winners, you all deserve it! *clappings* Thanks for your contributions in blogging, and have supporting me all through these times. A big thanks!

Following the tradition, there are still some rules for the winners though:

Tag A Tune!

Posted by Ching Ya | Posted in Fun n Games | Posted on 20-11-2008

2

Tag A Tune is an online game by Carnegie Mellon University, that involves two players to identify the audio file they’re listening to. It could be either the same or different clips given to both players. Your task is to type out hints for the clip you heard, such as: instruments played, genre of music, female or male vocals etc. After both players examine each others’ hints, you two need to decide whether you are listening to the exact same clip, or not. The correct answers will grant you points. After several rounds you even got to play a Bonus Round! (It’s always sounded interesting to have one)

You could either Register/Sign in to keep track of your scores, or you could play as a guest.

It’s a simple game enough, unexpectedly entertaining. It’s one of those little games that could ease up your tension after hours of hectic office work. So, ON your speakers (or headset, if you’re at work), give it a go. Work on your Reflexes!
